Project Toyouke no Mori

We are excited to announce our new project, TOYOUKE NO MORI.

TOYOUKE NO MORI is located in a beautiful and historical hill in Nara. Away from city life and getting immersed in countryside living with a farm, we aim to create a community where people share the abundance and a true joy of life.

So far, we have leased 3,000 square meters of forestland and started cultivating a fertile soil for the farm, created infrastructures including ¥1,650,000 worth of remodeling the old structures as two temporary housings, and started to host our initial programs. We held a opening event for 3 days in May 2015 and started to offer our programs to the public.

We are now trying to raise ¥2,5000,000 (approximately $220,000) to construct simple open communal Chu-bo (kitchen) in Japanese traditional style with the help of a wonderful local carpenter. In this kitchen, using the vegetables and herbs harvested from the garden, we could teach the cooking of traditional Japanese meals, fermentation of foods (miso making, pickling), and healing. We plan to combine all of these teachings to create workshops available internationally.

The Japanese government is now aiding young generation to go back to the villages where the majority of the population are the elderly to promote farming.

Please join us in our effort and help us create a new model of a sustainable community. Your contribution will be an essential part for our beginning.

Thank you very much for your support and faith in our work.
