Asking for help is the hardest thing in the world for me to do. I thought last year’s back surgery would be the last time I ever had to pull that trigger. But then someone hit the start button on the roller coaster of life. My daughter has been very sick for the last year and a half. Really, really sick. Her life as she has known it has stopped. After 5 different specialists and more tests than I can count, we recently found out we’ve been living in a rental with toxic mold, probably for the last 3.5 years. The good news is, we finally have an answer and can heal. The bad news is, we’re going to lose almost everything we own. Mycotoxins, which have been continuously spread by the HVAC system, are microscopic mold spores. They don’t just land on things, they stick to everything. The only surfaces that can be adequately cleaned are hard surfaces like dishes, glassware, finished wood, pots, pans, etc. Everything else - mattresses, pillows, anything with particle board, anything with a motor, all food, all paper/cardboard, rugs, anything that's been opened, couches, anything with unfinished wood, everything leather, anything with filling or foam, Christmas tree, all of our ornaments - everything has to be thrown away. We've already incurred thousands in medical costs, and we're losing almost all of our personal possessions. I'm not one to ask for help - it's not my nature. But at this point we are financially drowning...
