Townes Lee Ray Cleary came into this world October 3rd, 2021, three weeks early and the odds stacked against him. At Kelli’s 20 week ultrasound, a life changing diagnosis was given. A Congenital Diaphragm Hernia (CDH) is a rare birth defect, and that was the card Townes and his family had just been dealt.
A brief explanation of CDH- “The muscle that separates the abdomen from the chest—does not develop completely. This causes a hole where abdominal organs can migrate into the chest. When that happens, it doesn’t leave enough space for the lungs and other organs to develop normally”.
Unfortunately Townes had a pretty severe case. Since his birth, he has endured more than anyone should ever have to in any lifetime. In short, he has had numerous surgeries, was placed on life support for a number of weeks, and has had many complications since. Although the days are getting better for sweet Townes, there are still many appointments ahead to get him to 100%.
I am starting this page on behalf of my sister and brother in law. They are never ones to ask for help, and always the ones to help and do for others. They have tried to hold off on a fundraiser for as long as possible, but the reality of medical bills, daycare, time off work, and living expenses have set in. I hope we can all help relieve some of the financial burden for Kelli, Ryan, Micky and Townes so all of the energy can be put to getting our sweet Townes to complete health.
