Hi, my name is Mirella Yiannakis and I am raising funds towards my latest foster Persephone’s URGENT medical care!

Persephone was rescued in China by an independent rescuer who works very closely with The Big 3 Organisation. She was found outside of a licensing department under the burning hot sun, chained up with metal wire, almost completely hairless, with a skin disease and people constantly kicking her out of disgust when walking by.

After a few months of being treated in China, The Big 3 Rescue and I decided to bring Persephone into my home as a foster, to give her all the love and care that she needs.

Unfortunately the care that Persephone was receiving in her remote village in China was not enough to help cure her skin disease and we were all shocked by her skin. Her rescuer tried her best but did not have access to adequate veterinary care. So when she arrived we took her straight to the Swiss vet.

Her entire body is covered in Demodex parasites, causing inflammation, itching, cystic pimples, skin infection, scabbing and more. Dead mites were found in her ears which are also severely infected. Due to her weakened immune system, she also arrived with a terrible case of Kennel Cough (or what the vets fear could rather be parasites in her lungs, - this will be confirmed by an xray when her medication is complete).

The vets are extremely concerned and in shock over her condition; seeing a dog this compromised is not common in Switzerland. This poor girl has endured so much in her short life, and despite her horrific treatment by humans, she is so loving.

Persephone will need back to back appointments and months of healing to get to the healthy level of a normal dog.

In just the 3 weeks that we have had Persephone, she has already been to 3 vet appointments, and she currently has her 4th one booked for the 27th of this month.

We urgently ask for any help possible as TB3 has stepped in for the rescuer and is paying all of the bills, but this expense was not expected and is mounting higher and higher and all we want is to see Persephone make a full recovery.

So far TB3 has spent over £1,100 on her care, and we expect this to reach at least £2,000 in the next month.
