Towards a fourth and final knee surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my names Alisha Mainwaring and I have loved playing high level football since the age of 10. I was at BHAFC for 8 years, in which time I looked at starting my professional career before rupturing my ACL and tearing my meniscus. This was a devastating injury to face at such a young age and one that has impacted the rest of my career so far. At 14 I underwent my first major knee surgery followed by a second. I continued with Brighton, facing struggles and setbacks from the trauma from the injury but still performing at the highest level for my age. I then lived in the USA, on a full scholarship ride, where I faced more struggles and another meniscus injury. This meant I had to come back to the UK for treatment and rehabilitation under the NHS. Never being able to perform completely pain free has been debilitating and has limited my opportunities to progress further with my career.
I am currently at Durham FC and in need of a fourth and hopefully final knee surgery in order to fix all of these issues and allow me to continue playing football. This go fund me will allow me to see a private specialist who will know the correct way to go around the surgery without causing future problems and allow to me to continue playing football. The surgery, consultation fee and MRI will come to a cost of £5,200.
Without this surgery I am unable to play football anymore, which I have always worked hard towards and dreamt of doing, ever since a kid . This surgery is important as its my last opportunity to fix my left knee and continue playing and living day to day life without pain and limitations. The journey so far has been extremely difficult but I am fully determined to not give up yet.
Any donations would be amazing and greatly appreciated.
