Hi there, my name is Shanna and I am starting this go fund me to help my sister Deanna. My sister has had a tough and challenging year and she just can’t seem to catch a break. In January her dog Maddie was sick and after months of tests it was determined that she had Cushings disease. My sister lives alone and her dog was her constant companion for 10 years. Then in June her dog was ran over by a neighbor’s car. She rushed her dog to the emergency vet where it was determined that Maddie had internal bleeding and needed to be put down. In July the company she had worked for gave notice they were laying 13 people off at the end of August and she was one of them. On August 28 she brought home a new poodle puppy named Ella. After her experience with her older dog and the cost of veterinary care she purchased pet insurance for Ella. However, before the probation period was up her dog had developed a cough and the vet started her on medication for kennel cough. This was in October, and since then her dog has continued to cough and experience shortness of breath with walks. The puppy has had multiple trips to the veterinary office and completed a couple courses of antibiotics and steroids. Her X-ray showed significant mucous in her lungs even after treatment. Her veterinarian is now recommending a specialist to perform bronchi alveolar lavage or a trans tracheal wash to determine the cause for her illness and proper treatment. The pet insurance claim was denied since the diagnosis of kennel cough was given prior to the probation period ending. My sister just started a new job. She has spent her savings over the last year with vet bills and trying to make ends meet. She is a hard worker and has never asked for help before. She is just really struggling right now and feels like she can’t catch a break. Her puppy is only 6 months old and the only way to help her is to see the specialist and determine course of treatment, which at this point my sister can’t afford.
