Tow truck operator homeless after false arrest

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Ian Littlefield, a 31-year-old resident of Valparaiso, Indiana, reaching out with a heavy heart and a plea for kindness during the darkest time of my life. Last year, I was a proud home renter, a diligent worker, and a loving partner and pet owner. I contributed to my community, not only through my job as a tow truck operator but through acts of service, often aiding those in financial distress by offering free or discounted towing services or vehicle repair. My life was upended when I became a victim of a miscarriage of justice, which has left me homeless, jobless, and struggling to rebuild my life.

In 2022, I was falsely accused of felony intimidation based on fabricated evidence. This accusation stemmed from a set of threatening messages allegedly sent from a fake profile based on my girlfriend's Instagram account, which were falsely attributed to me. Despite the lack of substantial evidence, I was arrested and spent nine days in jail before being granted bail. This led to the loss of my job—a job where I had devoted four years of hard work, passion, and loyalty.

The frequent police visits to my home resulted in an eviction by my landlord, leading to a downward spiral that saw me living out of my car, which eventually broke down. The woman I loved for 8 years, along with our pets, left me amidst this turmoil. Determined to prove my innocence, I shouldered the financial burden of legal representation. After a grueling period, during which I refused to accept a plea deal, I was repeatedly harassed by the same police officers that I had helped at my job, (that I would still help in a heart beat, by the way) I was acquitted by a jury in a mere seven minutes.

However, the acquittal did not restore my life. My reputation, tarnished by the false allegations, led to ostracization by potential employers. My previous employer, fearing a loss of a police contract, and conflict of interest refused to rehire me. Other local towing companies, influenced by the defamation of my character, deemed me unemployable.

Today, I find myself homeless, without employment, and fighting the stigma of a crime I never committed. My ambition remains undeterred—I yearn to work, to contribute, to be the hardworking individual I have always been. To achieve this, I am seeking financial assistance to secure housing, even if temporary, and to enroll in CDL training, which will broaden my employment opportunities and allow me to return to a life of independence and dignity.

Your help could be the turning point, the catalyst for change in a life currently marred by relentless adversity. I am not looking for a handout but rather a helping hand—a chance to regain my footing and to demonstrate the resilience and dedication that define me. If you find it in your heart to support my cause, know that it will not only change a life but reaffirm the belief in justice and community spirit.

I am ready to work, to learn, and to earn my way back to stability. Your generosity could pave the way for a new chapter, one filled with hope, hard work, and gratitude. Thank you for considering my request. The picture above is me hooking up to one of the hundreds of vehicles I've removed from the road way. That's what I am best at doing and what I would give anything to be doing right now.

Sincerely,
Ian Littlefield
