My name is Peta, I am 28 years old, and I have Tourette Syndrome (TS for short). I am a full-time mountain bike instructor and I love riding both my Mountain bike and Motorbike. In September I will be doing a TS Awareness ride from Canberra up to the Gold Coast, then back to Stanwell Tops for the NSW TS Camp 2024 then through Sydney and back stopping at schools and TS catch-ups along the way. The Ride will take me over 2000km and the aim is to spread as much awareness as possible, raise as much fund for TSAA as possible and to show that people with TS can achieve things that they are told won't be possible.

I have jumped through many hurdles to get where I am, but I am grateful that I can do the things that I can do. Like many others that live with TS I was told that I would never get a car license let alone a motorbike license or a truck license. I was told by teachers that I wouldn't get anywhere and that I would never be able to hold down a job, but I am proving them wrong everyday in a career that I am passionate about and makes me happy, I genuinely enjoy going to work every day and I love being able to make a difference in peoples lives, this is part of the reason I am passionate about this ride.

TS is a neurological condition that causes 'Tics' which can present as uncontrollable muscle movements and sounds and is not spoken about a lot. My aim for Twitch's TS Tour is to spread as much awareness as possible by stopping in to talk at schools as well as hosting events along the way. I am also using this ride as a way of fundraising for Tourette Syndrome Association of Australia as they do a massive part in supporting and advocating for the TS community, the funds will be used for more research, more awareness campaigns, more support for families and so that the TSAA can continue doing the amazing work that they do :) 100% of funds raised will go directly to TSAA as we are self-funding the ride so please if you have anything spare, even the smallest donations add up and come together to hel[p out! you can follow along for my ride on my FB page:
