Last December, Tom had a life-changing accident in Bristol and as a result, suffered a whole array of physical injuries including traumatic brain injuries.

His recovery however, has been astounding; undoubtedly as a result of his extremely head- strong and determined nature, and testament to the fact that he has never been known to do anything in half measures!

We have reached the conclusion that Southmead Hospital and Luta Pela Paz (Fight for Peace) are the most suitable charities which we would like to donate to.

The Intensive Care Unit at Southmead Hospital, the centre for all major injuries in the South West of Britain, was instrumental in saving Tom’s life. Given the massive workload of the hospital, and the chronic lack of funding in the NHS, we felt it only fitting that we lend them a helping hand.

Fight for Peace, a charity very close to Tom’s heart following his time working in Rio de Janeiro, was the other logical choice. In their words:

“Fight for Peace combines boxing and martial arts with education and personal development to realise the potential of young people in communities affected by crime, violence and social exclusion. We provide young people with the tools and support structures they need to become life champions and create positive futures for themselves. We support young people directly at our Academies in Rio de Janeiro and London, and via a global training programme, which equips partner organisations around the globe with the knowledge and resources to better support young people in their communities.”

Here is a piece that Tom wrote about his time working for the charity--

The Tough Mudder Race will take place on May 6th
- (rather aptly, 2 days after Tom’s birthday) and we have been told to expect nothing less than:

10 miles of running, 20 + obstacles, 500,000 Litres of Grade-A Mud and 40 Tons of Ice (oh golly!) --

God only knows how a ragtag collection of hedonistic students and young (not so) professionals will fare in this extravaganza of physical and mental self-discovery.

If you find yourself that weekend with no other plans and you fancy coming along to spectate, we would love (in fact are in dire need of) your support. If nothing else, watching Jacob and Huntingford attempt to scale a lubed-up 10ft wall will be Oscar-award-winning viewing (bring your Nikon 3000s, with plenty of film).

Having had some problems with setting up a page that could have a direct link to the two charities, we decided on creating this page with GoFundMe. All of the money raised will be held in Tom's unused savings account and at the end of the fundrasing process we will divide it equally between Southmead Hospital and Fight for Peace.

THANK YOU !!!!!!!

p.s for some reason they don't let you leave comments with your donation but, fear not, there is a separate space for comments below if you fancy sharing any brazen words of encoruagement or top tips to get us to that finish line !!
