Hello everyone, we are a group of best friends who have been each others ride or dies for the last 25 years. We have set this page up for Chris, Cheryl, Maisie and Mabel. We have all known Cheryl since school and then also Chris when they met 9 years ago, she is our best friend and one of the good ones - as is her lovely Husband Chris and Mabel's big sister Maisie. 3 years ago, their whole world was turned upside down when their 4 year old daughter Mabel was diagnosed with Batten Disease. It first began in the January with Mabel started having a seizure and frightening them to bits. The seizures continued and eventually she was diagnosed with epilepsy. They started meds, with Mabel having a number of other tests and scans. Then they were told the devastating news it was in fact Batten Disease.

Batten is a cruel childhood disease which has no cure and is severely life limiting. It is neurodegenerative, which means Mabel will deteriorate over the coming years. She has already lost the ability to walk and talk and struggles with drinking and eating. After that blindness becomes a real possibility, they are currently on the eye trial at GOSH, she is the 7th child in the world to receive this treatment!! Hoping to save some eye sight in one of her eyes.

We have decided as a group along side Mabel’s mum Cheryl to complete the Tough Mudder 15k on the 10th October. To raise awareness of Batten Disease and funds for a wheelchair accessible van. As time goes on they are struggling to get Mabel in and out of the car and soon they won’t be able to at all. The van will give them the freedom to take Mabel out in her wheelchair. So if you are able, please give what you can - any donation whether big or small I know will be hugely appreciated.
