Life changed forever, for Brad and Heidi, when Naish was diagnosed with cancer 17 months ago. What should have been a season of school, sports, and laughter, turned into 17 months of hospital visits, treatments, and countless moments of uncertainty and hardships.
Naish was a fighter—brave beyond his years, but it is with tremendous sadness, that we share, Naish lost his 17 month battle with cancer.
To know Naish, was to love him. You loved his spirit, his bravery and tenacity, and his clever sense of humor. He had wisdom beyond his years. He loved fishing, trading stocks, watching the evening news with his Nana and his Pops, playing Risk with his family, hanging with his cousins, and he loved his dog Maggie just as much as she loved him. Naish loved a good game and was an avid Timberwolves, Virginia Tech, and Commanders fan - many of whom wave banners of maroon
This news is still so raw, and we are all grappling with how to process such an immeasurable loss. What has become clear, is the amount of love and support that Naish and the Kaloupeks have, and how deeply their community of family and friends want to rally around them.
So many have asked what can be done to support them during such a hard time and in remembrance of Naish. For now, we are giving the family some time to grieve in private while they navigate the coming weeks. A celebration of life event will be held and once details are finalized, those will be shared.
For those that are eager to show their love and support now, there are a few ways you can help show your support:
Maroon ribbons are being placed on trees at people's homes and around the community. If you would like to participate, please fill out this link. Ribbons will be distributed as early as March 21st, for those who have asked to participate. Moultrie Middle School, Mt. Pleasant Montessori, Sullivan's Island Elementary, the IOP Fire Station and the IOP Rec Center will all be participating in canvassing our community in maroon.
Please continue to check back in to this page as updates will be posted on additional ways to support Naish's memory and to show support for his family. There will be a charity link/effort shared in the coming weeks. If you would like to make a direct donation to Brad & Heidi, please use the GoFundMe link on this page.
We want to surround them with love, encouragement, and a visible reminder that their community is standing shoulder to shoulder with them.
Let's mirror Naish's tenacity and love for life and show him just how deeply he was loved in return.
