A quick synopsis: Touchy Coffee is strong and growing, but we’re facing a short-term timing gap between purchasing green coffee and getting roasted coffee out into the world. We are hoping to raise $35,000 to stabilize inventory, improve cash flow, and give the roastery steady footing for the long run. We’ve invested everything we personally have into getting here, so we’re turning to our community for help crossing this final stretch. Even small support, whether that’s $10, $25, sharing the campaign, or simply cheering us on, truly helps.
The longer story is…
If you’ve been part of our world for a while, you know that Touchy Coffee didn’t begin as a traditional coffee company. It grew out of Superior Merchandise Company, a creative, community-driven cafe and retail experiment built on big ideas, collaboration, and a belief that small businesses can bring people together in meaningful ways.
That experiment shaped who we are. It gave us lifelong customers, unforgettable memories, and the foundation for Touchy Coffee as it exists today.
But it also came with a cost.
Like many independent businesses that pushed creative boundaries, Superior Merchandise Company was never profitable. When the cafe chapter closed, it left behind financial obligations and rolling cash pressures that we’ve spent the last few years working tirelessly to unwind. Since then, we’ve made huge progress, growing wholesale relationships across the country, building a loyal subscription community, and transforming Touchy Coffee into a focused roasting company with real momentum. A big part of that momentum comes from building long-term relationships with farmers and importers who share our commitment to thoughtful sourcing, sustainability, and coffees that truly reflect the people behind them.
Along the way, we’ve invested everything we personally have into keeping this dream alive. Because we’ve been so focused on rebuilding, we haven’t had the chance to fully get ahead financially, which means traditional lending options simply aren’t available to us right now.
The hard work is paying off and we are incredibly close to a healthy new chapter (about eight weeks of cash-flow destroying debt payments left), but we need a little help getting across the finish line.
We’re hoping to raise $35,000 to move beyond the lingering financial weight of that earlier chapter and give Touchy Coffee the stable foundation it needs to thrive long-term. Thanks to the support of this community, demand for our coffees is strong, but the timing between purchasing green coffee and delivering roasted coffee has created a short-term gap that we’re working to close.

With stronger footing, we can spend less energy surviving and more energy doing what we love most, sourcing exciting coffees, dreaming up new projects, expanding cafe service, and creating the kinds of experiences that brought this community together in the first place.
We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come. Touchy Coffee is stronger than ever, with consistent coffees, a growing wholesale program, and a community that believes coffee should feel friendly, personal, and never boring. With a little extra support right now, we can finally move forward without the weight of the past holding us back.
Every small business story is unique. Ours has included naivete, risks, alot of creativity, some really hard lessons, and incredible customers, guests, friends and family who’ve supported us from day one. We’ve always tried to be transparent with our community, and this moment is no different.
