Hi Everyone!
I am extremely excited and humbled to announce that I have been selected to play for USA's mixed open (MXO) team in the upcoming Touch World Cup - Nottingham, UK July 2024! Touch rugby is still a pay to play sport and is requiring that selected players come out of pocket $7000 to attend the World Cup. While I wish this was not the case due to lack of accessibility, I have chosen to take up the offer to represent USA - and I am aiming to raise funds through an additional job, sponsorship, and fundraising! Any and all help I receive is greatly appreciated! Please see some more of my story below, as I'd really like to share how special this opportunity is to me!
Many of you know that I have been passionately dedicated to rugby since 2011. In these last 12 years, I have committed my heart to training with our local club squads - and I truly believe grassroots rugby is where I have built the strongest bonds, and learned so much about myself as a player and person! Having been made stronger by the community, I was able to believe in myself and achieve some pretty cool things in this sport!
Luckily I have had the privilege of playing for the first professional 7s league in the US (PR7s), training with USA 7s, and representing USA in 15s. I have loved the journey (highs and lows), but I never quite gained the opportunity to represent USA at a World Cup or the Olympics. While these events are not representative of my career as a whole, you can understand my excitement about the TWC and what it means to me to play for a team and coach who believes I deserve a spot at the World Cup!
To bring it full circle to touch ---> At my lowest moments, it was touch rugby that really saved me and allowed me to love the game again! I have now been playing touch for over a year - and I cannot express how welcoming the community has been, and how many people have believed in me!
I have truly taken the time to learn the game and put myself in a vulnerable selection position once again - except this time it has paid off!!! Essentially what I am saying is - I am truly honored to have been invited to the TWC to represent USA. I will carry each and every person who has been a part of my (long, long) journey in my heart! Again, any and all help would be so much appreciated! If you are a current Seattle local who donates - I will offer up a 1:1 skills session as well!
Thanks everyone! Catch me at the World Cup 2024!!! Whoohoo!
