Support Kuwait’s Largest Volunteer Animal Shelter
And Be A Part of Their Success!

With hundreds of rescued animals housed on five rented farms in the desert, TOUCH OF HOPE Kuwait is the largest animal shelter in the country and is led by two women volunteers.

They rescue, treat, spay, neuter, and try to rehome abandoned, abused, stray, and injured animals. They deal with the most difficult cases, those with serious injuries and disabilities. Rescued dogs, cats, horses, goats, ostriches, donkeys, rabbits and other small animals all receive love and care at Touch of Hope.

Marlene Bou Gedeon, the group’s Founder, is from Lebanon. Claudia Farkas Al Rashoud, originally from California, is the Co-Founder. Marlene actually lives on one of the farms in a remote desert area, surrounded by rescued animals. She endures long hours of hard physical work and deals with horrendous cases of animal abuse, injury, and neglect among the animals she rescues on a daily basis. She has dedicated her life to the cause of animal welfare.

A photojournalist and author by profession, Claudia has been working in Kuwait for 44 years. She’s responsible for the community outreach and education programs, public relations, and fundraising for Touch of Hope and in general just tries to do whatever it takes to help keep the shelter running.

With no official funding, Marlene and Claudia suffer from the constant, stressful challenge of supporting the shelter financially. Their routine expenses include: rent for five farms, food for the animals, salaries plus room and board for fourteen full-time workers, utilities, maintenance, veterinary supplies for routine cases they handle at the shelter, and costly vet bills for the many serious cases that have to be treated in vet clinics.

They’ve managed to keep going for years by holding fundraising events that pay a small percentage of their bills and mostly by using their own savings and selling their possessions. They’re working on a long-term project that will benefit people and animals for generations to come and will eventually make their operation sustainable. But in the meantime, their funds are running out and they urgently need your support. Please help them continue to provide food, care, and shelter for their animals by making a donation today. No amount is too small. And please share this campaign widely. With your help they can continue giving these helpless animals a touch of hope.
