Help create a UK mtb network

Hi,

I'm working with my mate Chris to create a network of long distance and (largely) off-road cycling routes for the benefit of everyone, and are affiliated to the UK cycling charity Cycling UK. Cycling off-road is safer than using our crowded tarmac, and also a lot more fun, so we are seeking out routes that use roads as little as possible, so you spend as much time as possible off-road. It has a greater sense of adventure and will take you to some of the most beautiful and occasionally remote areas of our country.

We intend to build a portal where the whole network can be seen and routes can be downloaded as satnav files to use in a phone or bike-satnav.   All the information will be provided free – this is not a profit making excercise. The website is called TotalTerrain and it will grow and develop as more routes are forged.

There are two parts to our work:
1) documenting as many existing routes as we can and making these available on our website. We are also forming links to existing sites if routes already have their own homepage and…
2) creating new link-routes between the existing routes and so create a real network.

It is this second part we need your help with. We need to get riders to volunteer to ride these new link-routes for us, mapping them out on satnav and making route notes to help others who will use the route. To do this we need to cover the expenses of the volunteers; some routes will take several days to ride so we need to cover food and accommodation costs.

We have set a target of £2,000 which will enable us to get around 1,000 miles of link routes mapped out. Please can you help by donating a small amount towards this target.
