Total Thyroidectomy for Potential Thyroid Cancer
Donation protected
10/06/23 Update
Hello everyone,
I want to thank each and everyone of you for your words of encouragement and/or donations. I had surgery Wednesday morning and it was a success. There were no complications, and it went so smoothly that I didn't even require a drain post-op. Thank goodness for every blessing. I left the hospital yesterday evening and I am now recovering at home. The additional pathology report is still pending, so I am unsure whether or not I'll have to do radioactive iodine treatments sometime down the road, but I'll keep you all apprised as soon as I know. I want to thank you all again. This surgery wouldn't have happened without your support!

Hello everyone,
I go by many names, but the relevant ones are Sarah, Bella, and The Princess. Despite the names and personality bestowed upon me, if you're reading this, I may not be someone you personally know or have had the opportunity to meet, yet. However, if you've ever been to a Drivin' N Cryin' concert in the Southeast in the last nine years, you've probably seen the back of my head at a show. To those of you I do know, hello, and I hope you're doing well. I do apologize in advance if you're not up to date on my life. I am doing well despite the situation I find myself in. I think of many of you often.
It’s never easy to ask for help, but I’m reaching out to you during pressing times. Most of you don't know, but I've struggled with thyroid issues for years, and due to a recent biopsy, I have learned that I am suspicious for papillary thyroid carcinoma cancer. It currently sits at a category 5 of the Bethesda scale which means that there's a 75% that it is cancerous. With numerous visits to an oncologist and ENTs, the best course of action is a total thyroidectomy. I am scheduled to have my surgery October 4th, 2023. Unfortunately, I am uninsured. I am crossing my fingers that my hospital stay itself will be covered by the financial assistance program available, however the hospital won't review my financial assistance application until three weeks prior to the surgery date. $2,500 is due to the ENTs by October 2nd, in order to have the surgery. Currently, an unknown amount of money will also be due to the anesthesiologist. I will be out of work for recovery for two weeks, pending no complications. There is a possibility that I may have to do some radioactive iodine treatment(s) in the future, but that won't be confirmed until after the surgery and an additional biopsy, which may also be an out of pocket expense. All of these factors, plus some recent unplanned non-medical emergency expenses, leave me in a financial crisis.
I'm pleading to any friend, family member and stranger who can afford to contribute anything, even if it's only $1, to consider helping me. Anything you can give would be a blessing beyond measure. If you can't donate, I ask for your thoughts and prayers for my upcoming procedures. Please send all good vibes my way. Whether you're able to donate or not, PLEASE share this GoFundMe across social media as many times as possible, in order to help me reach my goal.
Thank you all, and I'll keep you up to date when more information is available.
