We may not know each other well, but prayers are a communal language, and that’s what I am humbly asking…. PRAYER. You see, I have this amazing sister (n-law), Tosha Taylor Gooch, and she has been by my younger brother’s side for all of our adult life (25 years). If you know me or my family, you know we can love rowdy, hard, and intense, and oh so strong. CANCER—THE PUNCH CAME OUT OF NOWHERE! This week, Tosha was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer (breast, lymph nodes, and brain). She is 47 years old and looks wonderful and felt healthy, but her arm had been hurting for a while. NOONE IS EVER PREPARED TO HEAR THE C-WORD....CANCER.
Tosha is a rare jewel with a capacity to love like I’ve never seen. Although she was never gifted with human children, she has loved the paws, horns, and hooves off so many animals and creatures. Example: What do you do if you see baby possums on the side of the road without their mama? Me too—I drive on, but not Tosha. She takes them home and nurse them to life until they could make it on their own—POSSUMS! This alone tells you the depth of her unconditional love—always for others, never for herself. In fact, this past Tuesday when she got the news, she was ushered from one office to the next to the next, meeting with several specialists and radiologists. Every door that was opened brought more bad news. Me and my sisters were with her. We laughed, made jokes, and tried to keep the strong faces, but hers WAS THE STRONGEST OF ALL. Do you know why? She told me that she wanted to BE STRONG FOR US. FOR US?! That is Tosha.
So, this is what I am humbly asking…please pray. Not just for healing, but for GOD to use this horrific nightmare to bring about little daily miracles that have HIS NAME all over it! I know that I know that I know that God is WHO HE SAYS HE IS AND GOD WILL DO WHAT HE SAYS HE WILL DO. But, we are the vessels that carry life’s inextinguishable LIGHT and we pass it from one to the next in the most simple moments of every day. Please pray for LIGHT & LOVE to have Its way and each and every person touched by this will have a personal, meaningful, and hopeful nugget to take from it. Nothing ever happens that God doesn’t see coming. I believe God likes for us to hold one another’s hand and take each other along for the journey…bumpy roads and all. Then, the journey becomes THE BLESSING, not just the healing.
We will not be looking for handouts, but we are asking for anyone who will find JOY in helping to do just that, HELP. Tosha had only been at her job for a few months and doesn't have short/ long term disability and will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. Beau will continue working, but he is an electrician and works out of town. Your donation will allow Beau to be with Tosha for some of her most difficult days ahead. All the money raised will go to medical and living expenses. Our family will be right there with them as well, but IT TAKES A VILLAGE with this type of battle! Beau and Tosha have helped so many people through some of their darkest times. Now it is our turn to help them. We can't tell you how much your donation would mean not only to Tosha & Beau, but the ENTIRE FAMILY.
Thank you in advance for joining Tosha and our family on this journey. I pray that God SPEAKS SO CLEARLY TO YOU and you find your own personal blessing while being a sojourner with Tosha and the Gooch’s.
