My son was a typical 13 year old teen that played football, basketball, ran cross country and track, and was in band. One day he started having chest pains, experienced shortness of breath, and his heart was fluttering. This went on for three years before he was finally diagnosed with a heart condition, AFIB. He was no longer able to play sports and his world flipped upside down. His plans changed from inspiring to be a college athlete to wanting to join the military.
He had three surgeries and thought he was finally healed. He started talking to military recruiters, only to be denied the option to join any/all branches of the service due to his medical history. He continued to put one foot in front of the other and search for his calling in life.
He has since gotten married and has a son that turned 2 years old in August. He recently moved his family to Oklahoma to be closer to his grandparents to help them out, as needed.
He started a job which he loves and things seem to be falling into place until he felt the familiar pains in his chest again. His AFIB came back and he is now seeing a cardiologist at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital.
We are asking for prayers - He is scheduled surgery on August 6th. He will be in the hospital for 4 days, at the minimum, with no complications. He was told a week after his surgery that he will experience aggressive AFIB symptoms. Then 6 weeks later he will have to have another surgery. The team of cardiologists are hopeful that he will be completely healed and AFIB free afterwards. (GOD willing)
He is trying to cope with the emotional roller coaster while staying optomic and strong for his wife and son. He has been working overtime and putting money away because he knows the medical bills are about to start coming in again. He's not sure exactly how much he is responsible for or how much the overall bills will total.
Tory has a heart of gold, and at times, goes without because he gave someone his last. He always has a smile on his face, takes it upon himself to uplift everyone around him, and tries to help everyone with their problems.
As a mom, I worry about him and feel bad about all his setbacks. As a Christian, I know GOD is watching over him and HE has a plan. We ask for your prayers more than anything else.
