Help for baby Torryn & Family

Donation protected
On Wednesday, February 7th, 2018 Taylor went to a scheduled appointment with her gynecologist, as she was 26 weeks pregnant. She had been fighting what she believed to have been the flu, and had not been feeling well for about a week. Unbenounced to her, the 'flu-like' symptoms that she was exhibiting were all symptoms of HELLP syndrome or pre-eclampsia. Most women who get preeclampsia develop it near their due date and do fine with proper care. But the earlier you develop the condition, and the more severe it is, the greater the risks for you and your baby because preeclampsia always significantly raises the chance of serious complications. It was then that Tahlor and Taylor's worlds were turned upside down -- when they were told that they would be flying to New Westminister to deliver their baby 14 weeks early.

Tahlor and Taylor live in Penticton, BC with their five year old son, Tristyn. On the flight to New Westminister, they were fraught with many thoughts, wonders and fears. That evening, Taylor gave birth to Torryn Edward Keeping, weighing in at 730 grams (1.7 lbs.) who more than exceeded their hopes and dreams. For the first couple days, Torryn needed help breathing from a breathing tube. Soon after, however; he was being assisted through a c-pap machine and was breathing the same air as everyone else. Taylor started to recover from her pre-clampsia symptoms soon after the birth and is doing well and mending.

It is with great joy that we share with you the news of Torryn's birth, but the journey for this family is far from over. As Torryn was born 14 weeks premature, he will need to stay in the NCIU in New West for the forseeable future and there are many obstacles that he must surpass in order to be able to come home. Taylor, Tahlor and Tristyn will have to pack up their life and move to the lower mainland too, leaving behind their two dogs, and a cat. Over the next few months, the couple will be making many trips back and forth from the Okanagan to the Lower Mainland and will be facing many unexpected costs associated with having a pre-mature baby.

If you are able to help us reach our goal to pay for the unexpected expenses, we would be forever grateful. If you are able to help in any other way, even just in the sharing of this page, or by thinking positive thoughts -- we would really appreciate the help.
