Dear Friends and Family,
Our beloved Lappin-Torrellas family needs our help right now. Ray, Lou (aka Louisa), and their children Kristel, Thor, and Nova have been beset by a number of terrible and tragic events over the course of the global pandemic. Kristel recently lost her beloved mother, Delia Caban, to a rare Prion disease called Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. Ray was unexpectedly hospitalized on October 20th for congestive heart failure. Even more worrisome, Ray suffered a stroke on Friday, October 29th. Ray’s medical team had placed him in an induced coma so that he could be monitored and stabilized. Ray is now out of the coma and awake but remains hospitalized. He is mobile, but still has a long road to recovery and will be unable to work for the foreseeable future.
Lou is under a lot of pressure managing Ray’s medical needs, helping to provide emotional support for Kristel through Delia’s illness and passing, being there for Thor and Nova during the challenges of the pandemic and their father’s medical condition, as well as keeping their household running.
Whether you know him as Ray, Mr. Torrellas, Mr. Lock, Lou’s husband, or proud father, you know that Ray is a terrific guy, and that asking for help is tough for him. For the past 25 years Ray has served the kids of Brooklyn as a beloved public school science teacher.
The Lappin-Torrellas family have a long road ahead of them and the emotional stress along with the financial burdens are overwhelming. We are inviting all who know and love this wonderful family to help ease some of their hardship.
All contributions to help Ray and his family are greatly appreciated. Your donations will be contributing to expenses for Delia’s funeral, daily expenses for the Lappin-Torrellas family, much-needed car repairs, in addition to alleviating the pressure of Ray’s growing medical expenses.
