Unspoken Theatre is celebrating our 15th anniversary with our biggest most ambitious show ever! We are bringing award-winning playwright, Natalie Kaye's PG 13 romantic musical comedy 1920's Walking Around In A Dream to Toronto Fringe Festival 2026 at Factory Theatre Mainspace and we need your support!

Our first Toronto Fringe show was 10 years ago in 2016 with Natalie Kaye's award-winning play "MOOD SWINGS" starring Tom Beattie and Maggie Cheung. Mooney On Theatre called the show "remarkable" and praised the "grounded, honest performances". It was in the smallest venue we have ever seen - a "shed show" with only 8 seats!

How far we've come...

We first commissioned Natalie Kaye's "Walking Around In A Dream" in 2013 when we performed a staged reading of the show in a special one night only performance. 13 years later, we now have a chance to perform the large scale piece in a venue that fits the project scale! Factory Theatre Mainspace, with 200 seats!

The production is a musical comedy set in the 1920's filled with hot jazz, wild dancing, gorgeous costumes, slapstick comedy, beautiful singing and big ensemble cast to do justice to the hilarious, authentic and heartfelt script.

We have a dream team!

Our director and musical arranger Declan Meagher is applying the skills he learned working with Disney Cruise Line and Sesame Place to create new arrangements of the best beloved songs from the era by Cole Porter, Fats Waller and others.

Our incredibly talented and dedicated cast: Tom Beattie, Ari Crooks, Gareth Finnigan, Fabiana Mercurio, Daytoni Raye, Kimberly Van Vo and Josh Welsh, are studying the script, learning the songs, dancing the dances and getting ready to wow audiences with this fun and exciting musical!

Aaliya Alibhai is painting the sets, and Nina Kaye is sewing the costumes! We cannot wait to bring this show to the stage! Fun fact! Aaliya Alibhai played Hermie in the 2013 staged reading!

In our 15 years, Unspoken Theatre has brought over 20 new plays to life, premiering new Canadian plays and working on the development of scripts through dramaturgy, readings, and full productions.

Reviewers have praised our past productions:

"The production was a theatrical feast" - Mooney On Theatre
"The performers do a fantastic job" - My Entertainment World
"Hats off to the acting!" - Cup Of Hemlock

And Natalie Kaye's writing:

"Hilarious" - The Toronto Star
"Sidesplittingly funny" - Fringe Review UK
"Bursting with theatrical joy" - Parton and Pearl

We've had talented artists join us for the first time, or work with us time and again! And we've had audience and supporters like you with us through all of it. We couldn't do it without you!

If you can donate, even a small amount, it will help us cover the costs of the production including:

Rehearsal space
Venue rental
Fringe Fees
Fringe Marketing Fees
Artist honorariums
Costume, props, set
Transportation expenses

We will have ticket sales from the show to help us defray our costs, so if you can't donate, please buy tickets to our Fringe show! We would like to make the show affordable and accessible. It is in the TEEN category and will offer discounted youth tickets and PWYC pricing, so our ticket revenue income is capped.

If you have the option to donate to our online fundraiser, every little bit helps! $5 isn't too small, it is all appreciated and useful. Or, if you don't have the ability to donate, please consider sharing our fundraiser!

With the deepest thanks, and with such excitement about our upcoming summer production, the DREAM TEAM! xoxo
