Help Tornadoes Swimmers represent Jamaica

Hi everyone,

We are raising funds on behalf of ten Tornadoes Swimmers who have made the qualifying times to represent Jamaica at two regional and international swim meets this Summer.

These swimmers have aspirations to represent Jamaica at the highest possible level. Every opportunity to represent Jamaica is an honour, and the Tornadoes Swimming Club is thrilled to have ten swimmers representing Jamaica this Summer.

Following the last two years of uncertainty due to Covid-19, we were not anticipating the Goodwill Games being held; however, in June, Trinidad confirmed that they would be able to host the Goodwill Games. What is especially exciting about these games is that they include the younger age groups and allow our younger swimmers to compete as a National Team and garner a wealth of experience and knowledge from a young age.

The eight Tornadoes Swimmers participating this year at the Goodwill Games are:

Kai Lawson (age 9), Emanuelle Spence (age 10), Kia Alert (age 11), Ky-Mani Hendricks (age 12), Jordan Kennedy (age 14), Aliyah Heaven (age 16), Jada Latibeaudiere (age 17) and Jaleel Samms (age 18).

After being postponed and then cancelled in 2021, FINA will be hosting the prestigious World Junior Swimming Championship at the end of August in Peru. This meet is the world's highest level of competition for age group swimming, and we are thrilled that two of our Tornadoes swimmers have qualified.

The two Tornadoes Swimmers participating this year at the FINA World Junior Championships are:

Nelson Denny (age 15) and Nathaniel Thomas (age 18)

The cost for these meets is more than USD 2000 per swimmer; at this time, we cannot say that there will be any financial support from corporate Jamaica or Government agencies. As such, the opportunity to represent Jamaica at these meets is parent-funded. We are asking for your support to help these hardworking parents make this happen for their swimmers.

The Tornadoes Swim Club will hold any excess funds raised for future national representatives.
