My name is Desiree, and I am Vikki’s daughter-in-law's sister-in-law (Vikki's son, Lee, is my brother in law). We are raising money to help Vikki and Mark rebuild after a devastating loss. A tornado hit their home, barn, and outbuilding on the afternoon of May 18th.
Mark and Vikki , their dogs, and almost all the chickens are “okay” (one chicken died, another is MIA). They are in shock and devastated. Everything is gone—the house has extensive damage, the swamp cooler was ripped off the front of the house and thrown into the kitchen. Half the house is shingle-less. The big barn is gone. Vikki’s brand new car was totaled. Mark’s trailer was thrown out into the field behind their house. The dragster was pulled from the trailer and thrown into trees hundreds of feet from the trailer—the front wheels were detached and kept rolling, even more hundreds of feet away. Tools and wood were spewed all along the back field.
The land is a mess, and everything that they have worked for is dislodged somewhere on their land.
Once we find out about their insurance claim, we can update the amount—it's just a place to start.
They are living in a camping trailer on the property but still do not have power. Someone lent them a car. The dogs are safe on a neighbor's property. They are alive, and that is all that matters right now.
Once we get updates from insurance, the cleanup process can start, and we will update as we can.
