Last night, a tornado struck our home while my husband, mom, two grandchildren, and I were inside. The storm caused substantial damage, leaving us overwhelmed and unsure of our next steps. As new homeowners, we’re still learning how to navigate these challenges, and unfortunately, our insurance deductible is more than we can afford right now. We get paid monthly, and our funds are already depleted from trying to keep up with regular expenses.

One of our biggest concerns is my mom’s health—she is a home dialysis patient and needs to be in a safe, sanitized environment. Because of the damage, we have to move out of our home until restorations are complete. This means finding temporary lodging, buying food, and replacing lost essentials, all while trying to keep our family together and safe.
