Tornado Relief for Family's Uninsured Home

Hello,

My family was deeply affected by the tornado that hit London, KY, on May 16, 2025. Our home and 3 of our properties were damaged. Fortunately, our home and 2 of the properties were insured, and those damages will be covered to an extent.

However, my father-in-law's home suffered extensive damage to the roof and the back of the house. The back patio, the pool, the fencing, and the home's electrical system were also damaged by debris. Unfortunately, the house wasn’t insured and does not qualify for FEMA because it is not our primary residence - we were in the process of restoring it for my wife's family. I'm afraid that it is now at risk of being a total loss.

Before the tornado, my wife and I had already invested over $125,000 in contractors and materials to renovate and restore the home. Now, because of the tornado, the roof and two sections of the back wall need to be rebuilt, and electrical work will be required to make it livable again. We are currently repairing our own home and 2 of our rental properties that house tenants. We do not have the necessary funds to also repair this home at this time.

Many families in our neighborhood were impacted and will also need assistance to return to a sense of normalcy.
