Tornado Relief for African-American Museum

Tax deductible
The Dec 10-11 tornadoes hit the African American Museum of Bowling Green, Kentucky. A week later, the electricity was turned back on but within a few hours a fire occurred. While the building is no longer habitable, the collection has been salvaged by museum workers in the region and is currently being stored at the Kentucky Museum and Corvette Museum.

Unfortunately, insurance will not go far enough to clean and preserve the entire collection - including priceless photographs, documents, and objects that document our vibrant African American regional heritage. While we are applying for grants, securing those take time.  The longer we wait for funding, the more soot and water damage can harm the collection.

That’s where we need your help!

This fundraiser
will help by:
- Secure a Kentucky-based conservator to evaluate the collection and provide recommended treatment plans for the damaged objects.
- Purchase a new computer for inventorying the collection.
- Seed fund treatment for the collection and/or securing a new space for the African American Museum.
- Once the above are complete, any remaining funds will provide the basis for a permanent endowment to help us resume operations and, we hope, hire a full-time Curator.

All funds raised go directly to the African-American Museum, a registered 501c3 charity.

Thanks in advance for your contribution!
