Tornado Loss- Insurance won’t pay to clean it up
Donation protected
My name is Joe, I am a retired Marine and father of six boys. Sherie and I have built a beautiful life for our wonderful boys, Joshua, Chandler, Edward, Hunter, Calvin and Kaleb. We moved to our property to give them a place to play and enjoy all the mature trees, birds, squirrels, and green grass. This week a tornado in Greenwood, Indiana turned our life upside down and took all our trees away and broke our hearts. Our home and property took a direct hit. Thankfully, we are all safe but, because we have been focusing intensely on debt payoff, we don’t have the funds to begin to clean this up. The city, so far, is refusing to help with cleanup. I have not heard from FEMA. Nobody from the city or volunteer organizations has reached out. News Link We have learned many lessons in the last 48 hours. One of them is that insurance does not cover general tree removal, debris removal and repairing our property. They only cover trees touching a structure. This sounds logical when you sign up but, becomes a nightmare when something of this level of catastrophe occurs. Their is and was no policy I could have purchased to protect us from this loss. I paid my premiums and am now facing a massive financial loss. There are no pictures that will truly show the magnitude of this situation for us or our wonderful neighbors. The neighborhood is being canvassed by tree companies handing out estimates exceeding $100k for cleanup. The money I am asking for will go towards getting us started, it won’t cover it all but, every little bit helps. If you have the means, a donation towards this cause would mean a lot to our family. I don’t feel like I have anywhere else to turn. Thank you. Salamat! Semper Fi! I will post cleanup pictures along the way. Before: After:
