Tornado destroys Firefly Farm's infrastructure

On December 9, 2023 at 1:20 in the afternoon an EF-1 tornado with 110 mph winds touched down in Stewart County, devastating Firefly Farm

Will and Courtney Peacher own and operate Firefly Farm in Indian Mound, Tennessee with their five children. They have been cherished members of the Clarksville Farmers Market where they supply an abundance of berries, fruit, vegetables, culinary herbs, nursery plants and canned goods. I am Todd Bentley from Sweeter Days Farm (personal friends with Firefly Farm and a fellow vendor at the Clarksville Farmers Market) and am writing this fundraising request on their behalf.

This 50 acre farm is a patchwork of annual and perennial gardens, orchards, pastures and wildlife habitat. They also provide weekly vegetable boxes through a Community Supported Agriculture program

The tornado destroyed their custom wood and polycarbonate greenhouse along with it's heater, circulation fans and irrigation system. It also destroyed three large production high tunnels and damaged a barn. Fortunately, two of the tunnels and the barn should be covered by their insurance. We are fundraising to help them rebuild the 20x30 heated greenhouse and one of the 30x130 high tunnels. Will and Courtney estimate their out of pocket cost to be a least $20,000.

Most middle Tennessee farmers start heating their greenhouses in January, so there is no time to delay! Your contribution will go directly towards the reconstruction of a heated greenhouse and new high tunnel. This family will be excellent stewards of these finanacial resources and will be growing food for our community again in no time.
