Tornado Destroyed My Mother in Law's Home – Please Help

Hi, we are Jake (son in law) and Fran (daughter) and we reaching out with a heavy heart to support my mother Claudia after a tornado hit her home.

Repairs have been quoted as per below and its impossible for her to afford these repairs when insurance will only cover $5,000 out of the $30,892

$18,123 structural repairs, roof and walls.

$8,237 internal repairs such as tiles, plumbing, paint and internal walls.

$2,472 windows and frames

$2,060 fridge

Last night, my mother in law's house located in Puerto Varas, Southern Chile, was destroyed by a tornado — something incredibly rare for the area. Parts of her roof was torn off, walls collapsed, no windows, no heating and wet insulation, in just a few minutes, the house became inhabitable.

Claudia lived there with her four children and two little chihuahuas. Thankfully, no one was hurt — but now they have nowhere to go. No home, no savings, and no way to rebuild without help.

My mother is the kind of person who gives everything she has to others, even when she doesn’t have anything left to give. She has beaten breast cancer a couple years ago and is still recovering from the side effects of radiotherapy and surgery and is currently on medical leave, it’s time to give back to her and help her have a roof over her head. She’s overwhelmed, and honestly, so are we, as the damage caused is beyond anyone’s pockets.

We’re doing what we can from Perth, Western Australia, but the cost to repair the home is just too much for one family to manage alone. So I’m asking — if you’re able to help, even a little — it would mean the world to us.

Hola, somos Jake y Fran y estamos con nuestros corazones rotos pidiendo ayuda para mi mama.

Anoche, la casa de mi mama fue destruida por un tornado en Puerto Varas, Chile, algo muy raro para nuestro pais. El techo esta completamente destruido y con goteras, las paredes están destruidas y destabilizadas, todas las ventanas quebradas, insulacion mojada y la casa esta completamente inhabitable.

Mi mama Claudia vive en la casa con sus cuatro hijos y dos chihuahuas. Gracias a dios nadie salio herido, pero han quedado sin casa y no tienen donde ir. Sin casa, sin ahorros y sin poder reconstruir este hogar sin la ayuda de todos.

Mi mama es la clase de persona que lo da todo por la comunidad, sus amigos y todos quienes necesitan una mano, da incluso cuando no tiene nada. Le gano al cancer de mama hace poco años y aun esta recuperándose de los efectos secundarios de la radioterapia y cirugia, no esta trabajando ya que esta con licencia medica lo que hace la situación aun mas difícil y precaria, es hora de ayudarla a poner un techo para ella y sus hijos.

Mi mama esta tremendamente angustiada y estresada, y nosotros tambien estando tan lejos, el daño estructural en la casa es tremendo y se escapa de nuestros bolsillos.

Estamos haciendo lo que podemos desde Perth, Australia Oeste, juntando fondos para ayudar con la reparación de la casa que es muy caro para una familia poder costear sola. Les pido de todo corazón si nos pueden ayudar, aunque sea un poquito, significaría el mundo para nosotros, todas las donaciones suman y nos acercan un pasito mas.
