Torin's Heart Transplant Journey

Torin is a chill, calm and laid back 6 year old and the youngest of 8 children all together, we are a pretty big blended family. Torin is the glue to our Family and on May 17th, His life and ours changed forever. Torin caught COVID-19 and began to have some scary symptoms. Dad rushed him to the ER in the middle of the night, where they confirmed it was COVID, and Pneumonia but something else wasn't right. The X-ray of his lungs caught something abnormal with his heart so by 7am he was being rushed to Emmanuel's Children's Hospital and was placed in ICU. They ran Tests, and more tests. What they found was something a parents nightmares are made of.

Torin's heart wasn't pumping blood correctly, They had their suspicions that it may be a rare condition called Restrictive Cardiomyopathy but needed to confirm it.

So we came to the Best of the Best in The PNW - Seattle.
on 5/28/2021 He had a Cardiac Catherization procedure done and
on 5/29/2021 We got the official diagnosis confirming our fears.

Torins heart muscles have become stiff and can not relax properly in order to pump blood the way his body needs it. Unfornately there is no cure for this.

Restrictive Cardiomyopathy is a rare form of heart failure, especially in children, The only way to give him a fighting chance at life is with a heart transplant, without it he wont have much time, the pressure in his lungs is also building up due to them RCM. Even with a heart transplant Torin will have a long road a head of him because he is so young he will most likely need another transplant in his late teens/early adult ages.

He is high risk, for blood clots, infections and respiratory complications. So in order to keep him as safe as possible while we prepare for the Transplant List he will Live here in ICU.

Doctors say he should be ready for a heart by mid July due to COVID - we have to give his body to time fully fight off the virus to avoid any complications.
But just cause he is ready doesn't mean he will get one fast, Toh is also Type O Blood so he has to receive from another Type O. This reduces the chances a bit.

Because of this huge life change, Dad and I have been here by little mans side but that means our other babies are with family in our hometown and due to the  length of time we will need to be here, and distance from our other children, we are asking for help in relocating in this emergency situation as well as also helping with any extra expenses that will help keep our focus on Torin and by his side.

I do work, but I am on leave due to the nature of our situation and money is running out fast. We weren't going to ask for help but Torin needs us here by his side more than he ever has before, and that matters more than Pride. The Goal Number is kind of random as we have no idea what is to come in the future.

So please if you can help in anyway we greatly Appreciate it.

Torin also has an Amazon Wishlist and Loves getting surprises and learning new things.
