Tori Mazzacone's Peridance Semester
Donation protected
Hello, I am Tori Mazzacone. Let me tell you a little bit about myself before I tell you the reason I created this account. It's not always easy asking for help, but I finally built up the courage to do so.
About Me:
I am a 20 year-old dancer that lives in Arizona. I JUST graduated with my Associates Degree for Fine Arts in Dance this December (2015)! I am also currently part of both CONDER/dance and Halo Movement Collective. I enjoy smiling, being with my family and friends, dancing, organizing, planning, yoga, lifting weights, EATING, teaching dance, the great outdoors, and everything else that God has given me!
What this "GoFundMe" is going toward:
I am a dancer fighting to do what I love. I have a semester off of school before I go transfer over to a University to get my BFA in dance (not sure where yet, I'm waiting for acceptance letters and dance program auditions)! During this semester I have decided to move to New York City to dance in the Peridance Spring Semester Intensive that I was accepted into! This is super excing... It means I can dance in a city surrounded by amazing talent for 6 whole months, Monday through Friday! HEAVEN for me. This being said, I have saved up money for living expenses, but I still have to pay tuition for the program. Dance training can be very expensive since it is like attending a school specifically catered to individual artistic goals. Unfortunately, Peridance is not a university-setting, so I cannot take out "student loans," like someone would for a college education. That's why I am asking for some help to cover those expenses. Tuition itself is $5,700.
Why I have decided to reach out to others:
A couple of people suggested that I make one of these, but I didn't feel like I should because there are SO many people in the world that need money more than myself. But, I finally realized that when you want something bad enough, you have to make it happen. If asking for help is part of making it happen, then I guess that is what I have to do (while also working my butt off to do all that I can)!
My Outlooks:
Dance is very important to me. I have worked extremely hard to get where I am today. I started my dance training at a Boys and Girls Club when I was 7 years old, doubting my abilities to ever become anything from it. I am now committed to my dreams and know that whether I believe I can or cannot be a part of my dream dance company, I am right. Therefore, I believe I can do it!
Donating or not:
Any bit of help is appreciated... Heck, a penny would be lovely. Even if you cannot donate, or decide to donate to another cause, I appreciate you reading this and being the awesome person that you are. If you know anyone that might be interested or willing to help, please share this post and spread the word about my story. And if neither of those things, I hope that you can walk away from reading this extremely long post as a reminder to always do what YOU love and make it happen no matter what anyone tells you. There is no better way to change the world than being yourself. Thank you for your time!
With so much gratitude,
Tori Mazzacone
