Tori Tarro

Victoria Mae Tarro (Tori) is 4 years old.  In August Tori was admitted to UNC Chapel Hill Children's Cancer Hospital.  She was diagnosed with Stage II Wilm's Tumor a rare, malignant tumor of the kidney that affects approximately 1 in 100,000 children in the United States.  This type of cancer occurs in childhood usually before the age of five.

Surgery was performed and the malignant tumor (about the size of a grapefruit) and her kidney were removed.  Victoria's prognosis was "favorable". She can lead a relatively normal life after chemotherapy.  She is adjusting well to her large scar on her abdomen and port-a-cath that juts out from her chest wall.  She is now having chemo treatments, weekly for 19 weeks.

The photo of Tori in the hospital bed was taken on Halloween during her 6th Chemo treatment.  Dressed as a princess, she is a tough little warrior.  Tori has 13 more treatments to go and needless to say, it will be a difficult time for her and her family.

Just prior to the diagnosis Tori's mom, Emily had just received her RN degree and was looking forward to beginning her career.  Since Tori's dad, Cole is working 10-hour days, Emily needs to stay home with Tori.  With the lack of Emily's income and medical expenses the family is struggling to make ends meet.

Tori is smart, loving, adventurous, beautiful and sweet little girl with loving parents that want to provide the best for her.  Any donation that is made no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
