The Torgerson family had an unexpected house fire during the early morning where they lost their home and personal items. They also lost their beloved dog Sophie in the fire due to smoke inhalation. Karen Torgerson is an elementary teacher in the community and has poured out years of supporting children in the Sylacauga community.

The family is facing the loss of their home, truck, furniture, clothing, household items, and irreplaceable family valuables.
