Torey Brown's Injury Recovery
Donation protected
Many of you may have heard about Torey’s recent motorcycle accident. The good news is, our friend is alive and is doing well! The bad news, however, is that he is going to be facing many, many surgeries and physical therapy in the coming months.
First, we ask that every respect Torey, TreyDon, Kasey and Gail’s privacy over the coming days. In the meantime, you can help by donating to this GoFundMe to help Torey get through what will be a long recovery.
Currently, Torey is bouncing back like the badass he is! Despite being thrown 50 feet from his motorcycle over the weekend and landing on his left side, his vitals are fantastic and the doctors couldn’t be more optimistic about his recovery.
He is no longer intubated and breathing on his own!!! His head appears to be good condition, he is responsive and able to move fingers and toes. The biggest concern was whether his carotid artery was compromised by the neck injury. Fortunately, CT’s on the neck have come back good, and as of right now (without an MRI), they may let the carotid continue to heal and then do additional surgery to repair it. Some hitches in getting Torey an MRI because apparently there’s some metal still lurking in his bad eye (because of course he does.)
Everything is lookin’ good from a brain function standpoint, but gravity did a number on his ol’ bod. Here are some of the injuries he incurred:
Orbital bone (left side) severely damaged and a partially collapsed/crushed sinuses. Will need surgery and an expert ENT.
Broken left jaw which shouldn’t need to be wired shut, but he’ll have to skip the steaks and beef jerky for a while.
Broken left collar bone which will require surgery and the addition of some rods and screws.
Shattered pelvis/broken hip that will require surgery. No salsa dancing or major movement for 3 months.
A few other bumps and bruises, along with a broken left shoulder blade, a small break on the left hand, and a break on left foot will not require surgery, but will definitely take some time to heal.
While there is no set timetable for recovery, doctors feel certain that he won’t be able to walk for at least three months. Considering the severity of the wreck, three months is practically a miracle!
So, though our boy got lucky by a long shot, he is still facing a long and expensive recovery. Anything you can donate will help him get back on his feet faster, and back to givin’ us all hell again.
