Torah Scroll in Poland

Donation protected
As this time approaches, it's incredibly easy to lose sight of the deeper essence of what Chanukah is - the declaration of the morality, ethics, tradition, steadfastness, and survival of the Jewish people. Throughout our history, we have been exiled, tormented and attacked - but the idea of Chanukah is the survival,  resilience, and light which miraculously still shines in our people.

As many of you know, Chanukah happened 2000 years ago when the Greek empire attempted to dim this light, yet against the odds, we survived and continued to flourish. Throughout our history, dozens of similar episodes have taken place in our history - the most recent example being the Holocaust.

Less than 80 years ago, millions of Jews throughout Europe and its extensions were ripped away from their lives and exterminated from this world. In its wake, the physical aspects of their lives which were left behind were looted and taken into homes to be used, sold, or traded.

Every so often, an item resurfaces, held hostage.

In a few weeks, we will be traveling to Poland with a 93 year old holocaust Survivor - Yosef Levkowitz - from Israel to Poland in order to speak to students from college campuses about his experiences in the camps of Auschwitz and Belzec.

It happens to be that within the route of this trip, a local Polish man in the city of Radom, Poland, has surfaced and is selling a full Torah Scroll which once belonged to the Jews of the area for $6,000

As a merit to Yosef, the extinguished Jews of the Holocaust, its survivors, and the future generations of its people, we are looking to help raise the funds to bring this Torah Scroll back into the hands of the Jewish people to either be refurbished, used, or sent to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust museum in Jerusalem

For those of you who don't know, a Torah Scroll, known as a Sefer Torah, is one of the holiest and central items to a Jewish community. It is quite literally the lifeblood of the Jewish people.

With gratitude for anything that you would be able to contribute, please help us bring this Sefer Torah back home. Please help breathe life back into these pieces of parchment which were held so tightly with love before the Nazis ripped them away.

For if you are looking for a way to truly connect to the message of Chanukah - more than latkes, more than dreidels, let's show that the Jewish people are still shining bright by helping breath back life into this Sefer Torah and bring it back home to its people.

If you have ANY questions, please feel free to reach out to me or send an email to: [email redacted]

PLEASE SHARE with family, friends, co-workers, and anyone you think can add to the light.

Thank you so much, and wishing you a beautiful and VERY meaningful Chanukah...
