My name is Todd Ricks: son of Jim and Yvonne Ricks. My father is a framer and has built homes for over 40 years. Many of you may know my father and his strong work ethic. For those of you who don’t, he is a very kind hearted person. He is very loyal to contractors and homeowners that he has worked with and currently contracts with. He is honest with everyone and treats all people the same. Framing is how he has provided for his family for as long as I can remember. I grew up working beside him and my brother Travis. It is where I learned my work ethic. I have since left the family business but my brother still frames along side my dad.
On Friday December 11th 2015, their livelihood was stolen from them. His work trailer was taken, broken into and cleaned out. The trailer was found the next day, 45 minutes away from their home, empty. Every tool that he uses on a daily basis was taken. Simple things like tool belts and tape measures, to the more important things like air compressors and nail guns were gone. They took everything my father needs to run his business and provide for his family/employees. This not only greatly affects my father, but also my brother Travis and his young family. The most unfortunate part is that it is so close to the Holidays. They currently are borrowing tools to get by. They have purchased a few items, so they can get back to work, but are greatly in need of money to replace what they still lack.
My father’s company is very small: with him as the owner, my brother as the foreman, and a few other workers as part of the crew. When the recession hit, my father was greatly affected and was just getting back on his feet within the last year. This, unfortunately, has set my father back again as you can imagine.
As his son, it is hard to watch my dad go through this and felt the need to reach out to those that love and respect my dad as much as I do.
I am asking you to donate as much as you are able, to help refurnish and stock my fathers trailer with the tools he needs to continue to provide for his family. My goal is to raise $10,000 by Christmas. Money raised will used specifically to purchase and replace tools that were taken. Every little bit helps and is much appreciated. The tools are not insure so there is no relief there.
I know it is close to Christmas and it may be difficult to donate, but my dad really needs the support and help for all who can donate. Thank you for all your help in raising his Christmas spirit.
