Hello friends and family. I'm Jordan (Baby A) and my twin brother (Baby B), Colin "CJ," has been a marine mechanic since 2011. Walkers Marine employs CJ on Fort Myers Beach. And by now, many of you know that Fort Myers Beach will never be the same, with over 90% being destroyed by Hurricane Ian. Today, two weeks after the hurricane hit, CJ was allowed back onto the beach to view the shop, his tools, equipment and future. From the photos below, you can see that Hurricane Ian destroyed everything; sadly, all is lost. Unfortunately, all toolboxes, tools and devices with electric motors are severely damaged from fresh or saltwater exposure and oxidation.
For the average mechanic, the costs of mechanics tools can run anywhere from $7,500 to $11,000 for a basic assortment and toolbox. Specialized technicians can spend up to $27,000 on tools over their careers.
Tools are replaceable, and we're blessed that CJ was safe and far away from the beach as he weathered the storm.
Thank you, friends and family, for your donations; together, we can help CJ rebuild.
