Too Young for a Stroke: Support Nadia's Fight to Return Home

Donation protected
Hey everyone, I've known Nadia Christopher since we were in 9th grade. We grew up together, and we've been best friends forever; she's practically a sister to me. Right now, Nadia and her family are facing incredibly tough circumstances, and I’m hoping to rally some support for them.

Nadia just turned 40 and is the mother of twin three-year-old boys who are autistic. Unfortunately, things took a drastic turn for her on December 14 when she suffered a significant stroke. She was discovered unconscious by her husband on the morning she was set to go to the funeral of the man who helped raise her. By an awful coincidence, he died of a sudden stroke.

Nadia is currently hospitalized in Pennsylvania and has undergone two emergency surgeries to address her condition. One was to remove the clot, and the other, a craniectomy, was to remove a flap of skull to relieve pressure. She spent six days on a ventilator and is currently reliant on a feeding tube as she is having difficulty swallowing. Additionally, she faces significant challenges with mobility on the left side of her body and will require comprehensive physical therapy to regain her strength and independence. Right now, she is unable to sit, stand, or walk. The road to recovery will likely be long and challenging, especially with her young children to care for.

Through all this, we remain hopeful. Nadia remains resilient; she has been able to say a few words and even write with her dominant right hand. Despite her limitations, she has managed to let us know that she is still in there and that her spirit and personality are intact and shining through. We know that she is going to fight every day to regain as much function as possible because she is driven by the love for her sons and a fierce desire to return home to them.

During this time, Nadia, formerly the family's primary breadwinner, cannot work at her full-time job and isn't home in the evenings or nights to assist with her children. This creates a significant financial and childcare void for the family, which is exacerbated by mounting medical bills. She has medical insurance, but y'all know how unlikely that is to actually cover all her medical expenses.

This fundraiser aims to ease the financial burden on her family by helping with medical expenses, childcare, and essential household bills. Every donation, big or small, would make a meaningful impact during this challenging time. If you're able to contribute, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your kindness and encouragement.

With gratitude,

Caroline
