My cousins were expecting their first child, a baby girl. Excited as can be, we all waited to see exactly what day she would come. Baby girl was expected to join us on July 10th, 6 days late my cousin finally went into labor. Excited to meet their baby, they rushed to the hospital with a million thoughts; what color her eyes may be, what she will sound like when she cries, those first skin to skin moments, etc. Sadly those things were never experienced.
Somewhere between home and the hospital the worst thing imaginable happened. My cousin suffered from a placental abruption, starving her baby of necessary oxygen and blood flow. Baby girl stopped breathing and was stillborn. To our disbelief the doctors got her heart pumping again and have her on a ventilator as she cannot breathe on her own. After testing, it was determined that she will never make a recovery forcing my cousins to have to make the hardest decision of their life. To take their baby off of life support.
As this is extremely difficult to type, watch and hear about their only wish is to give her the burial she deserves. My cousins are extremely hard working and were more than prepared for her. They have a never-ending support system of family and friends but this isn't something that we were prepared for.
Any amount helps get them their wish in such a tragic time. Please say a prayer for them.
