Tony, original rescue name, Parker, was recently rescued from a gassing shelter in Oklahoma. He was fortunate enough to be rescued by Colorado Canine Rescue. He is a beautiful, 6 month old, Catahoula Leopard mix and full of love and energy. I am now fortunate enough to welcome him into my family. He's been with us a couple weeks now and has already bonding with my other dog, Della. He follows her everywhere and insists on snuggling with her at night. It's adorable.
Now that he has found his forever family and settled into a new life, he needs some assistance with walking. Tony was born with a deformed front right paw. In order to protect his growing shoulders and hips, he will need a prosethetic limb. This will provide ground contact to accomodate limb length discrepancy and level topline for long-term structural support and prophylactic pain management. He has been examined by Ortho Pets located in Denver and approved for a brace to help him walk and relieve pressure on his left paw.
He'll also need a brace for his left leg to correct structural damage that has bowed his leg out from taking all the weight from the right leg. Both braces will cost around $5000.
Once he gets his braces, he'll need a specialized pet physical therapist to help him learn how to use his new leg/brace.
I'm raising money to get him into his brace as soon as possible to start correcting his walking gait and relieve the pressure on his left limb. We go in to get xrays on Saturday (July 25). When orthopets receives the xrays, it'll take about 2 weeks to make his brace. I'm very excited to get this little some help so his life will be even fuller and richer!
