Tony’s Rally for a Team of Angels
No-one wakes up in the morning and heads off to work thinking your next stop is the hospital. But, on Thursday, February 9th, that is exactly what happened to Tony Pinard. Tony is an amazing father of two, loving husband to Diane, brother to five siblings, a loving son, super special uncle and a friend who lights up any room he enters to so many. Tony Pinard got up and headed to Sumner, Maine on a service call for Murray Oil during another one of our Maine blizzards. He was not feeling “quite right”; so he pulled his truck into a random driveway in Sumner to stop and get help. As he stepped out of the truck to walk to the homeowners, he collapsed. The first sign that an angel was watching out for him was the fact that there were people home. They rushed out to cover him in blankets and called an ambulance. Tony was rushed to CMMC where doctors performed tests and did CT scans believing that he had suffered a stroke. Come to find out, Tony had suffered from a brain aneurism caused by a congenital brain defect called AVM. A blood vessel burst in his brain; and the doctors at CMMC rushed him to MMC after their neurosurgeons there said they could perform surgery. Thursday evening, Tony underwent his first brain surgery to repair as much damage that was possible from the vessel burst. Friday afternoon was his second brain surgery to “glue areas” of his blood vessels together to stop the bleeding. Currently, Tony is in the ICU neuro unit at MMC in a medically induced coma. The road that lies ahead for Tony and his family is unknown. He will be in ICU for 2-3 weeks as he lies and fights for his life. The damage from the brain injury is unknown. However, what is known is that Tony will spend months in the hospital receiving around the clock care, getting CT scans, surgeries, etc. with his wife and kids and family by his side. If he wakes up, which his family is praying for, he will need months and months of therapy to regain movement, speech, eating, and everyday life skills that were damaged through this brain injury. Medical bills are the last thing on the mind of his wife, Diane, a Hospice nurse herself. She is by his side at MMC and staying in hotel rooms or MMC patient-family home rooms across the street. As a nurse, Diane has been a strength to the rest of the family, trying to explain what is going on in ways that we can all understand. The last thing on her mind is the bills that started to accrue when he collapsed in Sumner and took an ambulance to CMMC. Tony needs a team of angels to help his family right now. He will be out of work for an indefinite amount of time; and Diane will need to go back to her Hospice Nursing; although her heart will be beside Tony 24/7. This campaign is being created to seek out all angels on Earth that can donate and help this family as they watch their beloved Tony struggle to come back to them. Updates will be provided as they are available; but for now, the family asks for your prayers and miracles to bring Tony back.
