My June 5.25 mile / 8.5km swim down Lake Coniston will be a personal one as I raise money for Alzheimer's Society. Our family is experiencing first hand the fading of a close loved one as she succumbs to Alzheimer's; and I know this will resonate with so many reading this as it increasingly touches us all - directly or indirectly. I have actually done some training for this; I want to beat my 3.5 hour 2024 time and in doing so I hope to raise £1000 to help both beat the disease and also support the Alzheimer's society's work helping families and individuals navigate through the challenges as it takes hold. Currently, its estimated one in three people in the UK will develop Dementia in their lifetime.
