Hello, my name is Tracy Young and I am one of Tonya Young's four sisters. This GoFundMe has been started in hopes of easing the financial burden she will face in the coming months as she goes through her chemotherapy treatments and her journey to recovery. We truly appreciate you taking a moment to read her story: Tonya, being one of the most kind, caring and giving individuals I know, has always been there to give a helping hand to anyone in need. I have witnessed her buying Christmas presents for families when they could not afford to financially. She has been known to purchase school supplies and clothes for kids when the parents faced financial hardship. Tonya has always been a big part of fundraising for the Northwestern youth wrestling program, where she coordinated Chinese Auctions for the Charity Horseshoe Tournaments and raised thousands of dollars over the years for the youth wrestling program. Tonya has donated countless hours supporting the Charity Golf Outings to help support Northwestern Football and Baseball. As many of you may already know, Tonya is my younger sister, and after months of endless painful tests, she was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As you can imagine this news was a shock for our family to hear and we have all been heartbroken since. Tonya has been navigating the inefficiencies of the healthcare system since mid-January. Months have been spent waiting on insurance approvals for testing and fighting insurance denials for testing. Thankful for the diligence of her doctor, Tonya was able to receive the needed test for an accurate diagnosis so she and her doctors could develop an effective and robust treatment plan. Our family has learned a lot in a very short period of time about Tonya's upcoming journey through cancer treatment and recovery. We learned that in the oncology world, a month is 28 days, and Tonya would have 2 treatments per month constituting a single round of chemotherapy. Her current treatment plan has her undergoing six rounds of chemotherapy resulting in a total of 12 individual treatments. Although her treatments have not begun yet, Tonya has already endured bone marrow and lymph node biopsies and a Mediport insertion. First and foremost, our family asks that you keep Tonya in your prayers that the Lord places his healing hand on her and gives her the strength to undergo her treatments. She feels prayer is the most important thing we can do for her. We need all prayer warriors to pray for her as she undergoes her treatments and pray for her strength. We also request you pray for her son Kolton to help guide him through these tough times. We live in a wonderful small community that always steps up when someone is in need. I, as well as other members of Tonya's family, have already had several friends ask if there is anything they could do: To this, I say, If you have the time to make a meal that would be great to help ease the burden, if you have the time to volunteer to take Tonya to a Dr's appointment or a treatment that would be awesome, any help would be greatly appreciated. I ask if you have the extra money and would like to donate to this GoFundMe for Tonya it would help to ease the burden that she faces with the medical bills that have already started to pile up. The co-pays and deductibles for all the appointments and treatments are already overwhelming and taking an emotional toll. The funds will also help with the cost of travel to Cleveland for appointments and her treatments, medical bills, and other costs associated with her cancer treatment and recovery. We want Tonya to focus on getting well and not have to worry about the financial burden of fighting this battle. We know it will take a village to help Tonya to get through and win this fight. Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. We will post updates on Tonya's journey as often as we can.
