Tonya Hubert's Dying Wish
Donation protected
I'm raising money for my dear friend Tonya Hubert. Tonya has been in a long and barbaric battle with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
In June of 2013, on her birthday, Tonya and her family were walking out the door for a family celebration at Universal Studios when the phone rang. It was her friend and family doctor telling her that the lump she found at a routine exam had come back cancerous. She went through many grueling treatments including chemo, radiation, immuno therapies, surgeries including a double mastectomy and reconstruction. She was in studies and treatments from Breastlink, City of Hope and was finally able to seek treatment at the Chan Soon Shiong Institute for Medicine, a top cancer research and treatment team. She has had many victories and defeats in this fight. Her long 7 year battle has showed us what a warrior she is and has been inspirational to us all!
Tonya, her friends and her family's hopes were crushed this past month when her doctors informed her that all treatment options have been exhausted. Tonya will be transferred to hospice care the week of March 23rd and her doctors state she has about 1 to 2 months left to live as the tumors have spread throughout her entire body. Her husband Jeff is a 29 year veteran Firefighter/Engineer in Orange County who was injured on the job in December. He is unable to work his normal or extra shifts to cover the additional needs of Tonya and the family due to being on disability. Tonya and Jeff are Christians and have three children living at home ages 19, 18 and 12. Tonya is a strong person who is hands on and the glue that bonds her family together.
Tonya's dream was to have her back yard mimic the woods of Montana, her childhood home. She wanted to be able to see and hear a waterfall tumbling down into a pond, resembling a creek in Montana. She would use this as a place to reflect, read her Bible and pray. Her hospital bed will be set up next to the windows in the family room, where she will be able to look out at the waterfall pond everyday. Her family does not have the money to complete this project that she had started. In addition, they are struggling to save money for her cremation, celebration of life, pay for medical bills and auto repairs for their primary family vehicle. The funds raised would pay for: a professional pond builder to create the waterfall pond and the items mentioned above. The funds are needed as soon as possible so that they can build it and hopefully enjoy looking into her new backyard while she’s still with us.
These last days will be difficult for Tonya and her family. The kids will lose their Mom at critical points in their lives and Jeff will not have his wife with him as he nears retirement. May God bless all of you with the heart to donate anything towards this cause and I will post updates as much as I can so that you know how your money is being used.
