Famous boxers of the past often didn't get to enjoy all of the fruits of their labor. This was definitely true for legendary boxing hall of fame middle weight world champion, Tony Zale and his family. After he retired, Tony Zale was at one point so hard up that he was homeless.
On Tuesday the 31st of January 2017, his soul surviving daughter, Teresa Zale aged 71, has passed away after contracting pneumonia. The Zale family (the grandchildren) have already exhausted all of their own funds taking care of their grandmother who passed away two years ago after a long battle with dementia. Their mother Teresa was already ill at this time and medical costs have been ongoing.
In the last year alone, Teresa has suffered with numerous strokes, losing her speech, becoming incontinent and often forgetting who she is or where she is.
Daughter Sharon Sandor, is desperately trying to keep herself financially afloat. She's been caring for her mother Teresa Zale and will be continuing to take care of her mother's affairs even now that she's passed away. We are hoping to raise enough funds to provide help to Sharon and to cover the expense of a cremation service for Teresa and other expenses Sharon has had to fork out of her own pocket leaving her maxed out.
I've been running this campaign for the last few weeks. We weren't sure how long Tere was going to live for. Most of the donations prior to Teresa's death, was used to pay medical bills to ease the financial pressure.
So now that Tere is gone, we are at square one for raising funds to help Sharon pay for a $3000 cremation service. Sharon has put a lot of money from her own pocket to help, but is on the verge of a financial crisis.
The Zale family has been hit with tragedy after adversity and adversity after tragedy. As well as health problems throughout the family, two years ago Tony Zale's World Title Boxing Belts were stolen from the International Boxing Hall Of Fame. It's just been an awful couple of years!
We kindly ask any boxing fans, fans of Tony Zale, friends of the Zale family, friends of Sharon Sandor and people who simply have a generous heart, to help our family out in this time of great need. Please give what you can!
