Hello my name is Kay Ruhstaller and I’m fundraising to help Tony Washington. Many of you may remember that Tony was Family Resource Center’s Public Relations and Marketing Manager for many years. In that role he orchestrated the Action on Behalf of Children Awards. As well, he is the Executive Producer of Apollo Night Talent Show. Apollo performers with Tony’s guidance helped clench the All-America City Award for the City of Stockton.
Tony recently was hospitalized twice, resulting from several serious health conditions and leaving him with a need to be on oxygen indefinitely. These hospitalizations also left him with escalating medical expenses on top of normal living expenses. As we know, services that he may qualify for take time to receive and time is of the essence. The most urgent need is to be able to pay for oxygen so that he can literally breathe.
This is important to me because over the years, I have witnessed Tony help countless young people through Apollo Night. If they needed shoes or a ride Tony was always willing to help. One of his former Apollo Night participants, Tiffany Hollis, had this to say about Tony, “I would like to share a few mentions regarding Tony's character if I may. Tony has for years contributed and given back to the community selflessly. His dedication, support and creativity touched a tremendous number of individuals who needed human love, bright smiles, and a listening ear. He never hesitated to spend time and give advice to inspire determination and creativity in the lives of others. His very own creativity and warm spirit was always a pleasureful encouragement for others. His beautiful smile and comedic sense of communication always lifted and motivated so many lives especially mine. He is and was a diamond that shines in the community. The establishment of the Apollo Night in the 1990's was a blessing to so many lives across the County of San Joaquin. It was a terrific experience and opportunity for so many that opened unlimited doors for so many. At this time, more than any other time it will be a blessing to support and give back to an individual who has given so much to so many people and the world as a whole. God Bless you.”
The funds raised will go to help pay Tony’s medical expenses. This will allow him to focus on his health and getting well instead of worrying about whether to pay PG&E or for oxygen. Your donation will show him compassion and love, during his time of need which will restore his hope not to give up because there are people who care about him. With gratitude in advance, I would very much appreciate it if you would share this with your networks so that we can reach this goal for Tony.
(Full disclosure -GoFundMe donations are not tax deductible and a fee is taken out of the donation for their service. Thank you.)
