He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Anthony Lee “Tony” Turner was born June 6, 1985, in Kearney to Barbara Turner. He continued to call Kearney his home throughout his life. He was in the class of 2003 at Kearney High School.
On July 1, 2006, Tony married the love of his life, Ashley Stump, in Kearney. They went on to have three beautiful children, Chassidy, Tony Jr. and McKael, whom he was extremely proud of. His wife and kids meant the world to him and he worked very hard to give them the best life he could. Tony’s family always came first.
Tony looked at his Turner Body Shop crew as family too, growing up in the family business, Tony learned firsthand from his grandfather, who gave Tony a great passion and knowledge for the auto-body industry.
Tony began working as a tech at age 15 and progressed over the years to co-ownership in 2016, expanding the family business to a second location in Holdrege. He took great pride in the business. He would sign up for any class that would further his knowledge and innovate his company. He earned multiple certifications and awards in the auto body industry and was an active member of the Nebraska Auto Body Association. Working at Turners gave him the opportunity to build lifelong friendships.
Everyone who knew Tony knew him as a caregiver, always willing to lend a hand. He cherished his friends and family and was always just a phone call away. He especially enjoyed spending time sports shooting, bow hunting, camping, fishing, playing drums, jet skiing, traveling and spending time with his family. He looked forward to NASCAR and Husker game day, along with watching MMA with his friends.
Tony’s gentle demeanor, selflessness and loyalty made him an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend. Tony was always good for a laugh, always cracking jokes and playing pranks. Tony also had a voice of reason that many looked up to, saying often there isn’t a problem we can’t fix.
He was patient and kind with everyone. Tony had multiple friends he considered family, including their children who often referred to him as Uncle Tony and looked up to him with a twinkle in their eyes. Tony took great pride in protecting all his loved ones, holding his wife, children, mother and sisters especially close.
Tony and his wife were very involved in the community. Concrete Cares was their greatest passion along with fostering numerous animal rescues and sponsoring several area organizations including local youth.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Ashley Turner; children, Chassidy Turner, Anthony Lee Turner JR., and McKael; mother, Barb Turner; sisters, Amy Johnson and Alexis Turner, all of Kearney; mothers-in-law and fathers-in-law, Cindy and Mike Beaver of Gibbon and Joy and Everett Stump of Norfolk; sister-in-law, Amber Wright; brothers-in-law, Logan Stump, Dylan Kniffen, Mark Kniffen, Tim Beaver, Jon Beaver, Matt Tubio and John Tubio; grandparents, Sandi and Harry Leonard of Kearney; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bob and Gloria Turner; and brother-in-law, Ryan Johnson.
Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.
