Pray with us as we journey pass these obstacles in life. Amen
Hello, my name is Tony Ramirez
First, I would like to thank you if you're taking the time to read this. Please understand that this is my first attempt at asking publicly for help. I think my pride is hard to swallow at times. I have not reached out to many, only some close family are aware of my condition, most are unaware that I have injured myself at all. I find it embarrassing to explain and feel I'm a spectacle out in public.
Due to an unfortunate accident I now have a condition called Sacral Radiculopathy, a condition that affects the nerves S1-S5 in the tailbone. This condition, due to the area that it affects is Un-Repairable.
Damage to the sacral spine is less common than other forms of spinal cord injuries. The sacral spine is also the least likely area for spinal nerves to become compressed.
The sacrum is the triangle-shaped bone at the end of the spine between the lumbar spine and the tailbone. The sacral spine consists of five segments, S1 - S5, that together affect nerve communication to the lower portion of the body.
It is important to understand that the spinal cord does not extend beyond cord. After that point, nerve roots exit each of the remaining vertebral levels beyond the spinal cord.
Damage to the spine at the sacrum levels affects the nerve roots as follows:
S1 affects the hips and groin area
S2 affects the back of the thighs
S3 affects the medial buttock area
S4 & S5 affect the perineal area
As you can see the affected areas do not allow me to perform simple functions like; walking, sitting and standing. Using the restroom can be a painful ordeal. Pain at the tailbone does not even allow me to lie comfortably in bed. Pain exists 24 hours a day, with "Everything" below the waist, each day is a struggle; nothing is taken for granted any more. With therapy as my only option there is no surgical procedure that could help; pain is only managed with meds but not successfully. With the degeneration of the nerves more pain and possible paralysis is eminent.
Now that I am unable to provide for my family and things are flipped upside down. Bills piling up, currently seeking social security disability benefits, this process of trying to receive disability can be a long and trying process. I am reaching out to the community for some assistance. I am in need of funds for Medical and Personal accounts like utilities and mortgage (Foreclosure proceedings have started).
I am losing my home of 25yrs to foreclosure. Unemployed for almost 2 yrs.’, so no savings or income, but praying for disability. Just struggling to keep the lights on, with nowhere to go or funds to do anything with, how do you prepare for something like this? Not being able to enjoy life is so saddening to me. Unemployed with no income makes it harder. Not having a home will be terrifying.
Please if you can, make a donation, a little bit from everyone helps. Please share if you know someone that could help. If saving my home can't be accomplished funds will go toward helping relocate us.
I thank all that have helped thus far; your help is very much appreciated. God Bless you.
Thank you and God Bless,
Tony Ramirez
