Our generous and dedicated friend, Tony Mayers, is facing a life-altering medical crisis.  Tony is only 52 years young.

Tony was diagnosed last year with Cardiac Sarcoidosis, which causes scar tissue to form around the heart and can cause heart failure. Earlier this year, a pacemaker was installed but has been unsuccessful in stabilizing his condition, Tony has been in and out of the hospital much of 2019. 
 
Tony was placed on the heart transplant list in April.  He is currently admitted to Washington Hospital Center and has been elevated to level 2 on the waiting list. Tony will remain in the hospital and as soon as a heart becomes available they will immediately take him into surgery. 

Tony’s wife Patrice and daughters Teoni (22) and Morgan (8) are doing what they can to lighten his spirits and hear his belly laugh. If you know Tony, it won’t come as a surprise that he has made friends with everyone at Washington Hospital Center. He is even trying to find a boyfriend for one of his nurses. So be careful, if you stop by to visit, Tony may try to set you up on a date!

While his health insurance will cover much of his expense for the hospital, he is unable to work, and has already exhausted his leave for the year. While Patrice is still working, she has exhausted her leave and will need to take time off without pay to care for their family and Tony.  The next several months and possibly up to a year will be very challenging for the Mayers family financially. 

Our goal is to allow this family the time to heal through this medical crisis and not have to worry about day to day expenses when they should be focused on Tony's health.
