Tony Langfeld's Family Needs your HELP!

My friend Tony was diagnosed for a rare form of cancer, multiple myeloma, which about 6 months ago, he was told by his doctor that it was in it's "smoldering stage" and there was nothing to do, just sit back and wait.  "You have a 50/50 chance of it to ignite"...what does that mean..."once it ignites, we can treat it, but we don't do anything until that time".  Tony and his wife with their heads shaking, "That doesn't make sense." He wondered, as did all his friends and family, that he let know about his diagnosis, "Isn't there anything I can do to stop it from igniting?"..."NO, we don't do anything" and if it does ignite, you'll most likely have only a few years to live! WHAT?!

Tony, being the optimistic man that we know..."well I have a 50/50 chance nothing will happen, at least for several years"...unfortunately the person that I consider the sweetest, nicest, kind heartedness man that I know, lost that bet!

From the day of diagnosis to today, Tony has not felt RIGHT.  His health has deteriorated. His already slim stature has lost 40 pounds.  Lucky him (NOT) he went back in and had a kidney biopsy recently and not only is it not smoldering, its a huge wildfire!  It went from no BIG deal to to high stage 2 of 3 Multiple Myeloma. Added Bonus...its a rarer form than normal.

Now he has been told, "we can treat you"...lucky him (NOT!!!).

You've got two choices Tony...

1) Live 9-12 months
2) Do SCT (Stem Cell Transplant) and you may live 3-4 years

Tony being the man he is...didn't tell me option 1 initially.  He went straight to option two.  Which he didn't tell me...I looked it up, that it can kill him in within the next 30 days.  His treatment won't start for a couple weeks.

So let me back up and tell you about Tony...

I meet Tony in high school, we were locker partners...How? We don't know, but we remember it wasn't the schools choice.  Back then Tony was the guy everyone wanted to hang out with, there wasn't a party you would want to go to that Tony wouldn't be a part of.  Probably the best person anyone could call a friend.

After high school and my early age marriage...Tony and I lost touch.  Fast forward 20 years later and Tony and I reconnected.  Tony had changed...Tony now wasn't just the guy you'd want to hang out with, he was the guy you wish you were.  Not in a egotistical or financial way, but in a way, that you knew Tony just was a special person.  I couldn't get together and leave Tony without feeling better about myself,  life,  and the world.  He brings love, peace, and joy to everyone he touches.

Tony is not only one of my best friends, but he is an adopted brother! I love him dearly!!

Tony is adopted himself, celebrates two different birthdays (since he found out that the "records” were messed up).  Tony paid it forward and adopted one of his sons, but to Tony there is no difference. Tony loves his sons equally, his wife to the end of the galaxy, and all those people he calls friends...which just might be the homeless person on the side of the street.  He truly is in a rank above most of us when it comes to respecting and loving all that he comes across.

Understanding (but not coming to grips) that a person like Tony might be taken from us in 9 months, 4 years, or hopefully a day past the day I no longer occupy this earth...is a hard pill to swallow!

Bottom line...he and his family needs my help, they need his friends help, they need and deserve humanities help...he is too PROUD to ask...so I am asking for him!  His family is too precious to not take care of!!
